Privacy policies of Oregon-Idaho Utilities, Inc. and Humboldt Telephone Company

Telephone and DSL Service Customers

We collect certain personal information about our customers during the normal course of our business activities.  This information may include your Name, Address, Social Security Number, Credit Information, or other information relevant to opening and managing your customer account.  Oregon-Idaho Utilities and Humboldt Telephone Company take steps as required in applicable regulations, including Section 222 of the Communications Act and the FCC Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) Regulations, to protect this private information about our customers.  We do not share, sell, trade, or transfer any information we collect about you to an outside party for purposes of selling or marketing goods or services to you.  The information we collect about you is used by us and our trusted third-party suppliers to provide telecommunications and other services to you.  

We may contact you occasionally to discuss your service or account with us.  We may also contact you to discuss products or services we offer that may benefit you or members of your household or business.  If we contact you by telephone for any reason we will identify who we are and why we are calling in the beginning of the call.  If you wish, you may verify our identity by telling us that you would like to call us back at one of our well-publicized telephone numbers.   If you do not want us to contact you about purchasing new or additional products or services, you may contact our customer service department and elect to opt-out of receiving such calls.

DSL and Internet Service Users 

Information we collect during operation of our data network may be shared with our trusted third-party suppliers as necessary to troubleshoot and maintain the proper operation of the network. We will share information, including personal information, with companies, organizations or individuals if we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, to enforce applicable terms of service, including investigation of potential violations, to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, and to protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of our data network, our users or the public as required or permitted by law.
We do not monitor or collect information about customer activities on the network to be shared, sold, traded, or transferred to any outside party for use in marketing goods and services to you.  You should be aware that unrelated outside parties can and do monitor your activities and the information you send and receive across the broader internet.  The collection and use of such information by those unrelated parties are governed by their privacy policies and may be controlled by State or Federal regulations.  We do not participate in or control the activities, actions or ability of these outside parties or their ability to collect and use information, whether they may be lawful or unlawful.  You should be aware that any information you provide, send or receive over the internet is not private and is done at your own risk!  As such, we are not responsible or liable for any loss or damages you may incur because of their actions, including their monitoring, collecting, maintaining or distributing information they may obtain concerning your use of the internet. 

Our liability for any claims arising from your use of our services, is governed by our Broadband Service Terms and Conditions and the Acceptable Use provisions contained therein, which was provided to you at the time you initiated broadband service.

Website Users and Visitors

The purpose of our website is strictly informational.  It exists to provide information to our customers about our company, the services we offer, and how they operate.  We do not sell or offer any products to users for direct purchase using our website.  Our website does not ask or require users to provide any information online.  We do not use cookies on our website.  While we may include hyper-links to an outside company or party on our website, we do not own, operate, or control those websites and have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites.
